There are three major types of cardiac imaging equipment while applying for cardiac SPECT exam: catheterization, CT angiography (CTA), and magnetic resonance. A physician will recommend the best type for your exam based on their experience with different models or what is medically appropriate for your test.
How Long Does the Whole Process Take?
The length of the procedure depends on what type is being conducted. For example, a catheterization will take an hour or two while CTA can last up to 90 minutes. If you’re going in for an MRI it can take three hours minimum plus another 30-40 minute wait time after your scan ends before you are discharged from hospital care.
What Do You Need to Bring With You?
The physician will let you know the specific requirements for your exam.
